Flag Day Sunday June 14, 2020, members from all branches of the Legion came together to horor and dispose of unservicable flags. When a U.S. Flag has served its useful purpose, it should be destroyed, preferably by burning. For individual citizens this should be done discreetly so that the act of destruction is not perceived as a protest or desecration. Many American Legion posts conduct Disposal of Unserviceable Flag Ceremonies on June 14, Flag Day, each year. This ceremony retires the flags with respect by the men and women who have served or sacrificed their lives defending. If you have torn, tattered U.S. Flags, please don’t through it in the trash, or use it as a dust rag, give it to your local American Legion where the disposal of unserviceable flags in done honoring the flag we salute.
